See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 3 And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. 4 Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. 8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God. 10 By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother. So John and Jesus are jealous for us believers to know that judgment is behind us, and death is behind us, because our judgment happened when Jesus was judged in our place, and our death happened when Jesus died in our place. And therefore, new life is in us and this life cannot perish and cannot be taken away. It’s eternal. That’s the assurance John and Jesus want for you. “I write these things to you . . . that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13).

intrinsicandextrinsicIntrinsic value cannot be confused to mean possessing value, as there are instances where a thing like equality can be a possession of value rather than a manifestation of intrinsic value. Civil disobedience can be supported to establish equality among people with different faiths, backgrounds, interests and status. The practice of equality by placing law in every aspect of life is a matter of intrinsic value that has a considerable extrinsic impact on society and people. If a given thing in life possesses intrinsic value then not only must that same thing possess it under all circumstances,  but also anything exactly like it, must, under all circumstances, possess it providing equality. Or to put it in the corresponding negative form: It is impossible that of two exactly similar things one should possess it and the other not, or that one should possess it in one degree, and the other in a different one.” For it is obvious that there is a sense in which, when things are exactly like, they must be ‘intrinsically different’ and have different intrinsic properties because they are two. The divide of intrinsic difference and intrinsic value can be accomplished via a moral component. One such example of the resolution of difference and value is the movement known as Satyagraha (meaning to hold on firmly to truth.)  MK Gandhi demonstrated how civil disobedience to a Raj brought about lasting influence in terms of non-violence as Law of our being.  Non-violence concluded with civil disobedience and it brought together intrinsic value for extrinsic change,  freedom from imperial domination. Satyagraha did not fully succeed because of its inability to remove factors outside its purview.  Chief being the inability to form a government that could share power as equals.

Why go near a river where there will be no water?  In the stormy night your beloved calls out. Why does your suffering not move the heart of a single human being?  Even if the flowers bloomed and the moon rose, there is no awakening in the land in which you abide.  There is no prize from where you come yet am I to understand that you are respected there?  Distant cloud go back today.
