The time that my journey takes is long. Poem By Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore 1913.

Journey Home: The time that my journey takes is long and the way of it long. I came out on the chariot of the first gleam of light, and pursued my voyage through the wildernesses of worlds leaving my track on many a star and planet. It is the most distant course that comes nearest to thyself, and that training is the most intricate which leads to the utter simplicity of a tune. The traveler has to knock at every alien door to come to his own, and one has to wander through all the outer worlds to reach the innermost shrine at the end. My eyes strayed far and wide before I shut them and said `Here art thou!’ The question and the cry `Oh, where?’ melt into tears of a thousand streams and deluge the world with the flood of the assurance `I am!’

Tramontate, stelle!Tramontate, stelle!

English Translation of “Nessun Dorma “Nobody shall sleep!…Nobody shall sleep! Even you, O Princess,in your cold room, watch the stars, that tremble with love and with hope. But my secret is hidden within me,my name no one shall know…No!…No!…On your mouth I will tell it when the light shines. And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!…(No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.)Vanish, o night! Set, stars! Set, stars! At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win!

The poet Khusro’s fortune brightened because he went to his Beloved. My heart and mind belong to HIM, they are one and the same being. I, Khusro am standing in the yard of love, where all wrong-doers and the arrogant will drown, and those who drowned will cross over. I, poet Khusro will spread this song of love, that I will play with my beloved, who having won my  heart, I am willing to lose it again. I have finally found the gaze of my love. She appears as a young girl to everyone, of whom I  will sing the praises.. Whatever transpires now, everyone will see, I have finally arrived to see the eyes of that whom I love.

To tell the truth, I have been scared to  love, but I know that I only loved, and stole nothing. Beloved of hearts, and looks, I have followed my heart’s journey to you. Khusro will tell the strong, that I have found what I lost. I have made a home with my beloved so that when she travels far, I travel with her now. I have been so blessed. Gaze I will upon her in case I forget, I will lock eyes with my beloved. I have told this story to all who will hear of the  song of my new love. Drunk as I am now, look at the procession of longing, giving in to my beloved’s gaze. Her arms are fair, and her bracelets green and I am caught in her grasp once she looks at me. I am caught in your beauty and find its place in my own soul.  My eyes have seen my beloved. I, poet have extolled the virtues of my love to the world, of the great good fortune that has befallen me. Our eyes having met at last.

Kol Nidrei is both the opening prayer and the name for the evening service that begins Yom Kippur. Kol Nidrei literally means “All Vows.” It asks God to annul vows we may make (to God) during the coming year, either innocently or under duress. In other words, vows made unintentionally through the careless use of words or vows made because a person was forced to do so.

Amongst this banquet of flowers why are you sorrowful O poet? Near you the songs will come alive, filling the heavens and rain with your mighty voice. Yet you remain desolate, poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. In the dawn’s misty breeze that brought tears you are sorrowful of the picture that appears before you. You want to spread its plight across the world understanding that your song was never to return no matter how long you stood guard. Your beloved left with the insulting night remaining only to cry as a rose.   The musical chord near your heart is filled with song waiting to come alive .  That despair spreads across this world and attempts to make the harvest moon to forget its splendor.  Yet given your love the moon still adores. Why then amongst a banquet of roses you remain alone and desolate, O poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam, (Nazi not.)
